Thank you for visiting the Henderson Police Officers’ Association’s website. 2014 was an exciting year for our membership with new charitable initiatives and revamped campaigns.
Last October, we launched our inaugural “Cross with a Cop” campaign, promoting crosswalk safety and crossing guard appreciation. Henderson police officers across the city partnered with select elementary schools to walk children across the street, and provide junior police badges for practicing crosswalk safety. The campaign was a great success, and we are looking forward to continuing “Cross with a Cop” as an annual event.
In November, we partnered with a local non-profit organization S.A.F.E. House, we served as the presenting sponsor for their annual “Run for Shelter” 5K and One Mile Walk. Proceeds from the event went to providing shelter and resources for local domestic violence abuse victims. Many of our members participated in the event, and I had the privilege as serving as the co-speaker.
Lastly, we continued a community favorite, our annual “Shop with a Cop” campaign. Partnering with Target and Emerald Island Casino, we were able to provide 121 children in need with a holiday shopping trip, even Santa Claus was on hand for this special event.
During the first quarter of 2015, we anticipate the grand opening of our remodeled union hall combined with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. We are committed to continuing our charitable efforts and safety campaigns to ensure a sustainable and healthy community for all our residents.
Happy New Year to you and your family,
