The HPOA was recently made aware of one of our local children with autism.  His name is Elias.  He was accepted in the 4 Paws for Ability program (www.4pawsforability.org) to give him an autism service dog.  Elias's family was trying very hard to raise money for the trip to Ohio to pick up the dog as well as the program itself.

Our hearts went out to Elias and his family.  The Henderson Police Officers Association made a monetary donation that assisted Elias and his family.  As of February 27th, 2010 Elias was matched with his new dog.  It is a beautiful male Golden Retriever whos name is Cruz.  We are happy that we could help out Elias and wish him the best of luck with his new partner and friend!!
